Not for Profit Organizations (NPO) | How Can you Collaborate with Financial Advisors to Enhance your Mission and Vision

Growing up in the village, I have witnessed first-hand how the lack of funds for everyday necessities, such as food, water, access to proper schools and hospitals crippled the community. Most of the village kids, especially those whose parents had passed on, would go for days without food. They would freeze for the whole winter as they simply did not have warm clothes, shoes, or warm blankets. Schools would send them back home because they owed school fees.

To top it all, they had to raise their siblings on their own, some were as young as 8 years old. Where were their neighbours and the community to help them, you ask? It is not that simple. The community could only do so much as they struggled themselves. Jobs were and are still scarce in the villages as corporations tend not to invest in remote areas. At the young age of 11, I vowed that when I grew up, I would open a soup kitchen and an educational centre where we would tutor disadvantaged kids and assist them with applying for scholarships. Sadly, that dream hasn’t come true yet, but it is still very much alive. I keep wondering what I can contribute at this stage of my life. The first thing that comes to my mind is how one can partner with not-for-profit organizations, be it directly or indirectly. Not for profit organizations play a significant role in society as they take a shared responsibility with the government for the social and development needs of the country.

How Can NPOs Partner with Our Organization, a Chartered Accountants Firm, in Maximizing Their Impact on the Community?

Fortunately, I work within a dynamic organization that is not only focused on providing business solutions to diverse clients but also to implement life-changing approaches to the community at large. B-Advisory, a Chartered Accountants company based in Gauteng, has a proven record in assisting NPOs with the following:

  • Applying for tax-exempt status with SARS
  • Registering with CIPC
  • Registering Public Benefit Organizations (PBO),
  • Preparing and submitting IT12EI income tax returns
  • Applying for SARS approval for section 18A so that they can issue tax-deductible receipts to donors
  • Manage monthly accounting processes
  • Preparing and submitting annual financial statements/annual reports per the terms of sections 18 and 19 of the NPO Act
  • Auditing NPO books for submission to stakeholders, donors and compliance purposes
  • Financial forecasting, budgeting and overseeing financial reporting

At B-Advisory, we hold the pre-eminent skills and experience to enhance your business objectives, navigate NPO statutory regulations to ensure compliance, support your strategy development and execution which will help you attract more donors and reach more beneficiaries. We understand the vast needs our communities are facing, and we will continue doing our part in collaborating with NPOs to change so many lives around the country. The impact NPOs are making in the world is commendable. They are not driven by generating profit, but rather, they need to bring in sufficient income to trail their social objectives. It takes expertise and experience to manage those finances when that income finally comes in-house.

We Can Do More, You Can Do More

Seeing so many children and young adults going through never-ending hardships and not having access to what every human has a right to is heartbreaking. Many people may or may have not experienced how life is on the other side. A life where every waking moment is a struggle but sadly, such is real and keeps getting worse day by day, especially with so many kids losing loved ones either from HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, domestic violence, etc. The question is, what are you doing to play your part? If there is an opportunity to collaborate with a Chartered Accounts company that can provide various services to help your organization with cost-cutting measures, budgeting techniques, strategy and your accounting books, why pass on it? Together, we can change more lives.
